TRIP ONE
will be to explore LAKE ATITLAN, one of the most beautiful
lakes in the world and absorb the aura of the indigenous villages and people
around the lake. We will pick you up at the airport and head for our base on
Lake Atitlan, to savor its breathtaking beauty. We have arranged lodging at a
bed and breakfast on the lake shore where you can relax and enjoy the stunning
ambiance in the year round springtime clime.
The native Mayan Indians continue to live much as they have
for centuries even speaking the language and dialects of their pyramid building
ancestors. We will take day trips to the many interesting villages in the area
including:
- Shopping in Antigua the old colonial capital of Guatemala
- Market day in Chichicastenango and/ or Antigua
- Semana Santa festivities in San Antonio Palopo and other villages
- Market day in Solola
- Excursions to various villages on the lake.
Price for Trip One - $1080.00 – Children age 10 and under
half price. Great for adoptive parents of Guatemalan children to explore the
native culture.
TRIP TWO
is for Spanish language lessons in the colonial town of
Quezaltenango. More commonly known as Xela, Quezaltenango is noted for its total
immersion language schools which are thought by many to be superior to those in
Antigua.
You spend some or all of your stay in one-on-one/ one teacher
per student teaching sessions for about 5 hours per day, at the end of which you
cannot help but have basic Spanish language skills. There are also advanced
classes for those who already know the basics.
We will pick you up at the airport and take you to your
accommodations. Lodging will be either a home stay with a local family for those
who want a true, complete cultural experience, or private quarters at a
comfortable hospedaje where you can mingle with other travelers from all around
the world. Next we will introduce you to the school and the staff. We will do
some extracurricular things like – A weekend excursion to Lake Atitlan and to
various villages on the lake and enjoying Semana Santa processions in San
Antonio Palopo or other villages
Price for Trip Two - $1380.00
Participation limited to 10 persons per excursion – in order
to make the trip more enjoyable for all. The group will be led by founder and
